Colonial Families

During Colonial times anyone who worked on the family's farm was considered part of the family. This means that fathers, mothers, children, hired workers, and slaves were all considered a part of the family and were all expected to do their part by working on the farm to make it successful.

In the 1770's most people got married around age 26 and had the mothers had children about every two years. This made families much larger than they are today.
